Misconceptions About God Series

Have you ever walked into a church service and thought, “What is even going on right now?” Or heard a sermon, song, or social media “word from the Lord” that left you feeling more confused than helped?

Let me be clear:

God is not the author of confusion.

That’s not just a nice saying—it’s straight out of Scripture.
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” —1 Corinthians 14:33

Now, Paul wrote that in the context of worship—specifically the chaos that was going on in the Corinthian church. People were speaking out of turn, talking over each other, using their gifts to impress instead of edify. It was spiritual noise.

Sound familiar?

We live in a noisy church age. Flashy shows, disjointed doctrine, emotional overload—sometimes it feels more like a talent showcase than a time to hear from God. And when someone dares to say, “This doesn’t feel right,” they’re told not to quench the Spirit. But here’s the thing: the Holy Spirit isn’t chaotic. He’s clear.

He doesn’t contradict Scripture. He doesn’t promote confusion.
He speaks truth, in order, with peace.

And it’s not just about church services. This applies to our personal lives too. If you’re constantly in a fog about what God wants from you, check your intake. Is the Word of God central? Are you grounded in doctrine? Or are you living off bits of emotion and random “spiritual impressions”?

Here’s a test:
If it breeds chaos, manipulation, or uncertainty… it’s not from Him.
If it draws you to truth, order, and peace… it has passed the first test.

God leads His children clearly—even if the next step isn’t always easy.

He’s not playing games with you. He’s not trying to confuse you.
He speaks through His Word. And where His Spirit is, there’s peace.
