Misconceptions About God Series
Some folks have this idea that God’s out there somewhere—way out there. He’s real, sure, but He’s distant. Detached. Too big, too busy, or just not all that interested in the details of our lives.
And honestly? Sometimes it feels that way.
You pray, and it’s quiet. You read Scripture, and it feels flat. You go through trials and wonder if He’s watching any of it. Maybe you wouldn’t say it out loud, but you’ve thought it:
“Where is God right now?”
Let me encourage you:
God is not distant.
He may be silent sometimes, but He is never absent.
He may not move on your timeline, but He is never late.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.” Not far. Not passive. Nigh—close. Jesus didn’t just stay in heaven and shout truth from a distance. He came down. He walked dusty roads. He wept at funerals. He sat with sinners. He suffered betrayal. He endured the cross.
That’s not a distant God. That’s a present one.
And now, if you’ve trusted Christ, He lives inside you. You can’t get closer than that.
So when the emotions fade… when the room is silent… when you feel forgotten—don’t trust your feelings. Trust His promise:
“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)
You are not abandoned. You are not invisible.
He sees. He knows. He stays.
