Humility Month Series
Walk downtown this week and you can’t miss it—rainbow banners in coffee-shop windows, “Love is love” painted on storefronts. Our culture has decided June is Pride Month. Let’s be clear: flying a banner that celebrates sexual sin isn’t something a Christian can applaud. Scripture says God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. So maybe it’s time we call June something else.
I’m not talking about organizing a counter-parade. I’m talking about the quiet, unseen stuff—knees on the floor, hearts laid open.
James puts it bluntly: “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
Pride wants the spotlight. Humility wants the truth, even when it hurts. Pride shouts, “Look at me.” Humility whispers, “Search me, O God.”
And no—humility isn’t weakness. Jesus washed dirty feet the night before He carried a cross. That’s authority wrapped in a servant’s towel.
So here’s my plan for the next thirty days (join me if you want):
- Confess quickly. No spin, no excuses.
- Serve quietly. Do some good no one but God sees.
- Speak truth lovingly. Say it straight, but say it with tears, not a bullhorn.
Imagine believers scattered across the country doing just that. The world wouldn’t know what hit it.
June doesn’t need more pride. It needs a church that’s comfortable on its knees.
